Product Description This universal power adapter for laptops and notebooks fits many models and is a must for any repair shop or anyone who owns more than one type of notebook or laptop. Replaces lost and forgotten power adapters. Compatible models include Acer, Apple, Asus, Averatec, Compaq, Fujitsu, Gateway, HP, IBM, Lenovo, Panasonic, Samsung, Sony, Toshiba, Winbook. How to use: 1. Before plugging anything in, and with your notebook power off, test the plug tips to determine which one fits your notebook. Connect the tip to the cable. Then, check the laptop case or owner's manual to determine what voltage input it should have. (Call the manufacturer if you can't find this information.) 2. Set the switch on the adapter for the correct voltage. 3. Plug the adapter into the wall, then into your laptop.

get what you pay for September 1, 2010 worked fine for 10 days, then burned out or broke or something. all i know is that it died. Very light weight and feels cheap. I should have spent the extra money and bought a better quality piece. oh well, you live and learn.

I'll keep it simple. I really like this product. They built it for functionality not beauty but its a power adapter... I've never said "Oooh look at that cool power adapter!" before and I doubt I'll start now. None of the parts seem to want to slip out as has been an issue on certain other universals. I checked it against both my laptop (acer) and my girlfriend's (toshiba)and it works for both. This is a plus because now I can order another adapter for her since her's is on the fritz. Great product especially for the price. I'd definitely recommend this.
Oh, one more thing. It arrived a day earlier than promised. (Woot!)
Great Deal August 15, 2010 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I ordered this charger after my dog decided to chew on my current one. I needed a replacement immediately for school, but when I called Best Buy they had one only and it was $85, I then called The Shack and they had some for $100. I ended up finding this one, I chose to get the universal just in case my computer decides to poop out, and it was so cheap that I paid $20 for fast shipping and still saved a ton. Anyway, the product works on my computer (Gateway) and I also used it on my friend's HP. I only gave the product 4 out of 5 stars because when it moves it will stop charging sometimes and I have to reposition it, but otherwise it works great. Has a changeable voltage to adapt also.
Of all the tips in the world... July 13, 2010 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
...this particular kit as ordered in July 2010 doesn't include one for the Dell Latitude D-series (apparently that's 7.4 mm "diameter" with a 0.65 mm center pin) - and despite offering 19V and 20V steps, Dell managed to specify 19*.5*V for those machines.
Of course, it also didn't promise to, and I was crossing my fingers when ordering. Superficially, the casing seems sturdy, the voltage switch is nicely designed (shows the voltage selected clearly through a 'window' in the case), and the additional 5V USB output is a nice touch. It's a two-pin design and polarity is enforced by 'fatter pin/thinner pin' - so it's probably possible to reverse it and damage the connector if you force it unmindfully, just something to be aware of - this also means it'd be relatively convenient to bodge wires into in a pinch for DIY projects/emergency use, and the negative pin appears to be marked if you squint very closely at the surface of the connector.
For now it'll wait on my 'spares' shelf for the day when I need any of the 8 connectors it does provide. Unfortunately, given the unlimited creativity of notebook manufacturers, they'd probably have to include another 8 or 16 tips to cover *every* device in the wild, but the included selection appears to cover the most common styles except for those #%^& Dells!
great product and company February 28, 2010 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Great product not the cheap version. Doesn't overheat or short out like the less expensive ones. HDE delivered within 2 days of order, 3 days before promised date. Charged all my friends different laptops. Have charged 2 Toshiba's and 3 HP laptops all different models with one product. Highly recommend.
